Shock Dem Bolt

by Carl Harrison

Shock Dem Bolt is a song written to show appreciation to Usain Bolt for what he has done for Jamaicans, track and field, and as a globally recognized athlete who continues to amaze and inspire many people, the world over. One of the many such people includes me, Carl Harrison. I was inspired to write and perform this song, as well as, Xsample who co-wrote and stayed up with me in the studio until 5 am, while Shock Dem Bolt was in its infancy. Shock Dem Bolt has a fusion of mento and reggae beat because it articulates some of Jamaica's track and field history in a narrative format, as well as, strategically placing references that are synonymous with Jamaica's heritage. I hope that the sentiments expressed by Jamaicans at home and abroad, and citizens from the various continents and lands are truly echoed and represented in the song, again, Shock Dem Bolt.

Shock Dem Bolt has a mento and reggae beat because it articulates some of Jamaica's track and feild history in narrative format.
I hope that the sentiments expressed by Jamaicans at home and abroad, and citizens from the the various continents and lands are truely echoed and represented in the song, again Shock Dem Bolt.
