Six original tracks and two jazz standards shape CLQ, the first record as a leader of the Spanish drummer Carlos López. He has counted Voro García (Trumpet), Roberto Somoza (Sax), Oscar da Graça (Piano), Kin García (Bass) in for this work. The tracks included in the record were composed at Santiago de Compostela, Barcelona, New York and Boston, cities where he has lived throughout these last seven years.
The third track of the record, “Océano”, has won the first prize in the competition about Jazz Composition organized by the SGAE (General Society of Spanish Authors)x in the 2006.
Musical Training: "Berklee College Of Music" (Boston, U.S.A.), "Drummers Collective" (New York, U.S.A.) and "Taller de Músics" (Barcelona), where he obtained the Higher Degree in Modern Music as an instrumentalist in Jazz Specialty.
Drum teachers: Ian Froman, Marc Miralta, Kim Plainfield, Aldo Caviglia, Guy Licata and Peter Retzlaff, among others.
Master Class with: Peter Erskine, Horacio “El Negro”, David Xirgu, Billy Martin, Shawn Pelton and Stanton Moore.
Carlos has performed with Gilberto Gil, Benny Green, Bob Mover, Bred Wiltmore, Abe Rábade, Roberto Somoza, Alberto Conde, Baldo Martínez. Marcelino Galán and Manolo Gutiérrez among others.
Actually he’s the drummer of the World Music collective 08001 (Barcelona), Imaxinasons Orquesta (Big Band from Galicia), Pablo Seoane Trio and his own quartet CLQ.
