Album Notes
After the completion of her first solo effort "bleached" Cathy Rivers found herself and her surroundings in a state of decomposition, naturally her music has followed. Ascensión her new six song EP is an exploration of the landscape and emotions which filter through the Southwest. Produced by Teddy Morgan and including such great musicians as Joey Burns (Calexico) Eric Heywood (Son Volt) Jon Penner (Junior Brown) and Nick Luca (Iron and Wine) Cathy's music now takes a more introspective and de-constructive approach allowing the listener to really hear what she is trying to get at.

Haunting in the best way possible
Absolutely haunting in the best way possible. Western Wind is hypnotizing; a ghostly soundtrack of the West, just the best! More, please, Cathy.

Smoky, sexy, moody
versatile -- early morning, late nights, road trippin' iPod'in' any time of day listenin' - I love this cd. it's too short, my only complaint. Cathy's voice smolders and she weaves it around her intricate lyrics with such grace. You needn't go to the american southwest this year -- simply listen to this cd, have a stiff whiskey, and you're there.

One never wearies oneself any. The music is envoûtante, the words sublimes. Cathy Rivers has a force which one does not find in other singers. Perfect!
