"Oh Barack!" is now an historic collector's item!

Written, produced and performed by singer-songwriter and composer Celeste Friedman in 2008 to support former Senator Barack Obama, as he campaigned for the U.S. Presidency in 2008.

Campaign Song by Ohio Native Heard in Berlin and Across Europe

Berlin, Germany- American singer-songwriter/composer, 2005 Grammy Nominee and Ohio native Celeste Friedman is garnering attention around the world with her campaign song for Barack Obama, titled "Oh Barack!"

On Thursday, July 24th, as Senator Obama spoke before a crowd of tens of thousands, not far from where the Berlin Wall once stood, Friedman's song, in support of his campaign, played over the airwaves of Spreeradio, 105.5 FM.

We would also like to thank these radio stations in Europe for their airplay and support of
“Oh Barack!”: Radio Osttirol, Austria; Radio Maria, Austria; Radio Cernusco Stereo, Italy; and ECMA Radio, Austria.

Currently, stations in France, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland and the United Kingdom have requested a copy of the tune.
“We in Holland and the Netherlands all have our preference for a democratic candidate and most of them are a fan of Barack Obama. So, we are playing Celeste’s song!”
. . . John van den Berg, OMROEP, Vlaardingen, Netherlands

From the 2008 campaign trail . . .
A native of the central Ohio town of Newark, singer/songwriter and composer Celeste Friedman wrote a song and created a YouTube video accompaniment called “Oh Barack!”. In 2004 Friedman penned and performed a song for the Kerry campaign entitled “Carry Me Home”, but this time around she isn’t begging her Democratic candidate to fight harder, instead she has been inspired by the uplifting messages of the Obama campaign. In the process of creating a video slideshow to play along with her song, Friedman collected pictures of Barack Obama with the help of over forty independent photographers.

Song for Obama Shines Light on Hope

Columbus, Ohio- A campaign song for our times, inspiring hope and the promise of a better life, has just been released by singer-songwriter and composer Celeste Friedman.

A 2005 Grammy Nominee, Friedman is already garnering national support, as her song, “Oh Barack!” is reaching out to supporters of the phenomenal Obama movement. As an indie artist and eclectic songwriter, Friedman paints a lyrical portrait of Senator Barack Obama’s campaign for the U.S. Presidency, striving for quality of life and peace in our world. Friedman is also an Ohio native, born and raised in a small community and part of one of the critical swing states of this year’s election.

"The whole country should be singing her songs!", says Craig Harris of The Boston Globe.

Friedman is just coming off of an admirable 18 month period of scoring, including the Pulitzer-Prize nominated play, “The Glory of Living”. In 2007, she received chart-topping success in Europe with her CD, “Every Tear I Know”, in which one of her ballads was selected to be a part of a compilation CD, “All States All Stars”, recently sent to our troops in Iraq, featuring 50 songwriters from the 50 states. In addition, Celeste has just completed the score for an upcoming cable television series.
