ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Ceremonies debut single Black Wings/ Promises is direct with dark undertones. The duo behind the name, Malin Dahlberg and Marcus Bergman, wanted to make distinct songs that doesn’t hide behind concepts, ideas or too many layers.

The name Black Wings stems from a swedish expression used by Malins’ grandmother. A person who wears black angel wings is a person who sacrifices a lot without even being asked to do it, a martyr.

The single was written during evenings in Malin Dahlberg or Marcus Bergmans’ respective living rooms in Majorna, Gothenburg, and was recorded on a laptop as the songs developed.
As Malin and Marcus live only three blocks from each other the song writing process turned out to be quite spontanious, they could meet up and play some whenever they felt like it.

Final recordings, and mix was done by Tobias Martinsson at TRON Studios.

Marcus Bergman and Malin Dahlberg met through playing in the Gothenburg-based rock band The Greencoats and hanging out in the same circles. They became good friends quickly, but the idea of forming a band together didn’t come until a couple of years after that. That’s about as long as it took for them to find a shared musical reference (there’s still only one: Phil Collins). So, in the spring of 2012 they decided to start writing songs together. Their different musical backgrounds turned out to be both a source of conflicts and an asset resulting in a perfect combination of Marcus dark harmonies and Malins’ straight forward tunes. And outside of the music sphere they collect inspiration from precisely the same places: The sounds of Gothenburg and loved friends.

Malin and Marcus have also played in:
