Album Notes
In the 60's producer al santiago (the father of all this they call salsa today) recorded latin jam sessions in the wee hours of the moornings , when all the great musicians of that era had finished their regular gigs, al, timbal player kako, and musically led by the best latin pianist charlie palmieri and al called them the alegre all stars because of his alegre label, i, joe quijano having had participated in mostly all, this one for reasons of illness al, did not release...i asked al waht happened to the eight numbers we recorded on a freezing sunday morning of november in new york, and he in turn sold me, the fabulous eight and in time i added "mis recuerdos de barranquilla" and release the original cesta all stars. god bless all the guys that left us, and are jammin' in the big band in the sky...thanks, joe quijano ...pr 2003. "in the vein of latin dance music this cd is highly recommended."

Best latin jazz & salsa
Another latin jazz gem by the best latin NY musicians of the 1960's. Swing y clave, muy bailabile! Put on your dancing shoes and enjoy! Charlie Palmieri -el gigante- and Kako lead an all-star cast and deliver a bunch of jazzy descargas. The music sounds fresh and alive, a pleasure to listen to.
