Album Notes
Chapman’s debut solo album, ‘Unexploded Bombshell’ is a musical triumph. Simple arrangements and beautiful melodies are delivered by a truly unique vocal.
Drawing deeply on Folk and Soul roots, most of ‘Unexploded Bombshell’ is built from just Vocal and Piano or Guitar, punctuated with warm orchestration.
This is a solo album in the truest sense of the word, not only did Dom write, record and produce the record himself, he even designed the sleeve artwork and his website

The youngest of six children, Dom was influenced by the records and tapes he borrowed from his older siblings, whose musical tastes ranged from James Brown to The Fall, Cat Stevens and The Jam. Dom wrote his first song on the inside of a shoebox lid aged 5, and he’s had ‘sole’ ever since! Often isolated at school, Dom found refuge in his family, his songwriting and the Essex countryside. As soon as he was old enough, Dom started tagging along with his brothers to local live venues, and it wasn’t long before he was performing there himself.

A move to London saw Dom Djing at clubs and singing with underground dance act Scope. After a friend who worked in casting persuaded Dom to audition, he landed a film role starring alongside Dame Judi Dench in an BBC/HBO all-star production. Soon afterwards, Dom’s band MacArthur were signed to Dave Stewart’s Artist Network label and recorded their eponymous debut, working with Funkadelic’ Gary ’Mudbone’ Cooper, top producer Ash Howes and other great session players.
With the collapse of AN, instead of hitting the streets, the album landed on the desk of the official receivers and has been the subject of a 3-year rights battle due to end on August 24th 2006, when he and fellow bandmate Dan Turner take back control of the rights.

Never one to wallow in what might have been, Dom set out to write an album of songs that he truly believed in. Halfway through the process Dom lost an old friend. Two weeks later he and his wife lost a much-wanted baby, unbelievably the next day his father died leaving Dom and his siblings to cope with his mother’s alzheimers. This series of events had a profound effect on the album and on Dom’s outlook as he faced the inevitable change in his life. Remarkably he came through this difficult time with a renewed energy and optimism, determined to do everything he could to share his music with the world.

Mind blowing!
Mind-blowing music to chill out to this summer. Chapman's voice is really amazing and his music mixes up soul, folk and pop in equal measures to create something really very different and unique. Loving this album so much. Buy it NOW!

I think it's pretty much been said here in all the reviews but this is 5 star awesome and no doubt about it. Laid back and understated performances from a unique talent. Chapman's sound is really individual at a time when so much new stuff sounds derivative. Individual - unique - awesome!

Moving and inspirational.
I found this music inspirational. As an artist myself it made me want to get up off my backside and get writing again! Chapman is something special that only comes along now and then. If you like Nick Drake then Chapman might just be a Nick Drake for the noughties. Soulful and heartbreaking lyrics over beautiful melodies.

Heart breaking lyrics and pure sweet vocals
OMG this album is incredible! There's songs that make me cry no matter how many times I listen to em. The lyrics are so moving and Chapman's voice cuts right into your heart - gorgeous. And he's pretty gorgeous himself!

Are record companies insane in the UK?
How is it possible a singer songwriter of this magnitude isn't signed? Are you guys in the UK insane? Over he'd be snapped up in a second. What's not to love? He's super good looking, incredible voice, amazing songs with beautiful lyrics. Over here he'd be a huge sensation. Ditch the Uk Chapman - they don't appreciate you - come give us your talents in the USA!

Music that never fails to move
It's rare to find music that is provocative - in the sense that it takes you places you may not wanna go, i.e. your past or a clear-sighted view of the present. Not since listening to artists like Cat Stevens - or to be contemporary, The Tindersticks - have I found something so powerful. The track 'Burning Bridges' gets a lot of airtime - the album deserves a whole lot of airtime.

Benjamin Tais

Absolutely gorgeous. Really and truly.
Incredible - luxurious tracks.
And poetic.
Truly sketches from really life.
Especially "Child in Me".
In next weeks my Winner of Tais Top 50.
Thank You.

Nicely done!
I am really going to start paying attention to Chapman. His voice is really appealing, and his singing heartfelt. The music is interesting. Nothing high-minded and experimental nor popularly trite.

Very good music, well sung.

Nikolaus von Knorring

Sensible and ambient
Doing it him self and doing good. Chapman delivers ambient music with nice instrumentation. A record based on a feeling more then a collecton of hit songs. Slow and plaseant, harminising and sparkling. Top production and a very close feeling with the artist.

Kia Blake

Just brilliant.
All I can say is this CD is just brilliant. Words can't express how listening to this music makes me feel. If you ever loved and lost you'll get it! A friend emailed me a link to Chapman's myspace, one listen and I was hooked. I am a huge fan.
