ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
July 2, 2004
New York, NY - A chance encounter almost one year ago to date has spawned a movement in so-called 'urban' music. Cass and SōL, known together as Chariot, met last July in Union Square Park playing guitars with artists each one was producing. " The first time we got together, we realized we were on the exact same page musically, and we began writing and producing together almost immediately under the name Imperial," stated Cass (This name still applies to their work as producers and writers). Since then, this young, groundbreaking duo has been through many different management and production affiliations. " We were forced to grow up in this industry almost overnight. Everyone was saying these guys are the next thing, and we were running around everyday to different A&Rs who were interested in our music," commented SōL. During this time, the two devoted nearly twenty hours a day for six months to the cultivation of their craft, and the hard work has paid off. " We started to identify with certain characteristics in music we were studying for inspiration and found our roots, spiritually and emotionally, in the music of the early eighties," SōL articulated, and then continued, " Currently, we view music as nothing more than an attempt to express any specific feeling as clearly as possible, and when we came to that conclusion, we realized that we needed to be the ones delivering our ideas. When we started doing so, people were really responding and identifying with us. Then came "Chariot". "Chariot" recently signed with independent label "World Music Connections" in New York City and has completed an EP with the full-length album to follow soon. Currently the group is performing in the NYC area. For dates, please visit www.worldmusicconnections.com.
