Album Notes
Bee of my mind is a down-tempo darkly ambient sound with unusual melodies. Chase Frank has a bitter-sweet quality to her voice, while also challenging the traditions of popular music. This female vocalists not only sings but plays almost everything on the album. Comparisons have been drawn to PJ Harvey's more intimtate work, and others, but Frank's style is truly unique....musical.

This fearless album features Frank on many instruments (guitar, piano, bass, dulcimer, spoon guitar) and also has several great guest appearances (trumpet, violin, lap steel, etc.). The sweeping vocals are fresh, the lyrics poetic. "Bee of My Mind" demands several remembering a dream, Frank will remind you to care.

Frank currently performs solo, a completely different sound, The Solo Electro-Indie Guitar Orchestra style she has invented. Live she experiments w/live-loop-sampling. hear her new music at or at

wow....what a voice!
I love this album. Chase Frank's voice is so sweet and moody, reminding me of a modern Billy Holiday. The album is something of a journey....very intimate....very tasty. When will we hear the next album?!*#%?

Short, but oh so sweet. Chase Frank's debut is perfect on so many levels. Her voice is a flexible instrument that suits her music's free spirit well.

"Spoon Trick" is an oriental-flavoured track. Frank's voice dips and swoons while David Lizarde's violin gives the right kick.

"Sleepwalking" is a hushed, eerie song that puts focus on the dreamy lead vocal.

"Kickstart" is a playful little ditty with some nice ukulele playing by Frank. Now that's something you don't hear every day. "I've got a taste of your dark heart can't go a day without that kickstart" she sings lustily.

The jazzy strains of "Licorice Root" are very pleasing to the ear. Frank's lovely voice shines here.

"Bee of My mind" is just great.

Want a new flame? This could be it.
After my complete listening to "Bee of My Mind" by singer songwriter Chase Frank, I am convinced this could be my new flame. I often wait for a new album from an existing artist or a new artist to emerge to flame a new desire and spark a new imaginationscape for my art or mind, and finally I've found one. It's dark and bright spots stay with the listener (as a flash of a camera) and make an impression that doesn't seem to have been made before. I listened and thought of vocal haunts: Jeff Buckly, Bjork, the moodiness of the final Beatle days, with the originality of classic Edith Piaf. There are truly landscapes and colors that stretch out but don't make demands upon the listener, yet are there for the exploring. It is ambient, independant and just plain right there in your reach and at a few points, in your face. I hope Chase Frank gets the due chance she deserves to wash over the dirty ol' record business with something so honest and refreshing. Further there are several guest appearances on this solo effort which enhance the already existing musicianship Frank posesses. To listeners of originality, enjoy.

Of course my eyes are open, along with all other senses whenever I listen to Chase Frank's Bee of My Mind. The blend of sounds and textures offer a ticket to a new journey upon every spin. Her unique voice is angelic yet edgy, reminiscent of a 40's night club act resurrected in a future world. Dark, but at the same time uplifting, this acclectic collection of sounds provides a listening experience mellow enough for a night in the bath; upbeat enough for a night on the town.

Her new CD, "Bee of My Mind," ' her first solo project, is a sweet, hazy, dreamy, eight-song set of ambient sounds that needs several listens to fully develop in your mind.
"The process of writing songs is kind of fuzzy, and I don't know how it happens,'' Frank says of how her songs come to life in her head. "It" s just sort of intuition, letting it come up.'' In some cases, intuition led her into some interesting musical choices. The violin on "Spoon Trick, ' for instance, turned out to make the song a real attention-getter.

"A lot of people think it's almost gypsy, or belly dancing music, says Frank, who will be joined at the Que Sera by bassist Robby Delosier and percussionist Stephen Hodges. "I had one guy come in and say he wanted me to play for his belly dancing party." '

"Bee of My Mind" demands more than one spin, but conversely, it's a record that Frank tried to record in a series of first takes. The disc took more than a year to fully emerge; for "Kickstart," 'its fourth track, she had to master the ukulele. Final results happened quickly, though.

"For me, I spent the last year studying and writing," ' Frank says of the process that led up to recording. "It sounds really cheesy," 'Stay in the moment,' but think about how many times a day you're doing something and you can't stay where you're at.'
