ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Invitados: Gabriel Senanes y Jorge Bustamante.

El país de las manzanas: The first recording of the duet. Most of the music are original compositions (especially by Roberto Navarro, the duet pianist), adding some versions of pieces of varied origins -this also happens in the next albums. The music which gives the name to the record, "El país de las manzanas" (The country of the apples), is a loncomeo-like music (the loncomeo is a rythm of patagonian origin -mapuche), composed by Navarro, and possibly is the piece which possibly gave the greatest satisfactions to the duet. It is a homage to the mapuche-tehuelche chief Sayhueque and his people, who lived in "the country of the apples". There is also a piece composed by the winds-player, Chehébar, "Selva entre nubes" (Jungle amongst clouds), inspired by the subtropical mountain cloud forests of northwestern Argentina, using a bolivian wind-instrument of deep sound, the moxeño. There also versions of pieces by Egberto Gismonti, Fito Páez, and venezuelan folklore. Guest musicians: Gabriel Senanes and Jorge Bustamante.
