ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes

The first piece, which also gives name to the record, "Fiesta en el aire" (Celebration in the skies) is another experiment by Navarro with a piece for 16 siku voices. This album includes a siku solo, a Debussy piece, "Syrinx", played in chromatic sikus; as well as a piece improvised by the duet in the recording studio, for piano and quenacho (bass quena). A cello piece by Navarro, introduces an unusual combination of sounds -cello, piano and sikus. Eduardo Paillacán appears again, accompanied by Navarro, singing a beautiful song in the Mapuche language (Mapudungun), "Este es el canto de un joven corazón" (This is the song of a young heart), one of the highlights of the record. There are also natural sounds of Mount Tronador, recorded by Chehébar with the valuable help of friends knowledgeable of the mountains and sound recording. Other guests include Horacio Straijer on drums, and Patricio Villarejo on cello.
