Music has always been a major influence in the life of Singer, Songwriter and Guitarist Chet Samuel. Chet was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico to West Indian parents. His mother, from the Island of Curacao, and his father, Folk Singer, Songwriter, Louis Samuel from the Island of St.Kitts. Chet’s professional career began in Central Florida as the guitarist for the popular Roots Reggae Band, Addis Now. He later became the lead vocalist of the award-winning Reggae Band 506 Crew. During that time, they recorded two albums, “Talk it over” and “Jah Love”. In 2007, Chet joined the legendary Grammy Award winning Burning Spear on his world tour and is now opening for Burning Spear.
As a singer, Chet demonstrates the passion and intensity of his powerful vocal range and harmonious singing style. As a Songwriter, his lyrics are intimate; they express his reflections of life, love and spirituality. Although versatile on many instruments, his long time love is the guitar, his sound is clean and electric.
“Growing up what you would hear on the radio was very soulful, so when I decided to do this album, I had to stay true to my roots. I wanted to use those soulful colors and establish my sound with that feeling and sentiment of what I grew up with; in this album I sing to love, I sing to real women and to all people.”
Chet Samuel is a versatile Singer, Songwriter and Musician; he is a man of quiet strength, his heartening smile conveys to the world the immeasurable love and respect he has for life and the art of music.
Chet first solo album titled “Say My Name” it is a collection of ballads ranging from the soulful melodies of the gospel-inspired song, “Surrender”, produced by Jamaica’s Stephen Stewart, to the dynamic rhythm of “You Got It Going On”, featuring Dance Hall Artist, Chaka Demus. “Say My Name”, successfully integrates the traditional sounds of Reggae, Jazz and Rhythm and Blues.
