Chris Matheos' "Magnetic Charge" is a blast of Phunky Fusion!! Matheos' bass playing is up to it's usual chops drenched standards. Matheos' tune writing has gone beyond his previous cd's on this one. It's more of a band based cd than previous works. The core band is Matheos (bass), Kelly Back (guitar), and Bill Moehnke (drums). There are guest appearences from drummer Rob Anderson & NYC Bluesman Bobby Radcliff. It's a hard cd to compare to anything because every song is so different. Heres a try: The grooves of The Meters, meets the chops of Victor Wooten, mixed with The Allman Brothers & Sea Level jamming over it all.. The bass & guitar playing is exceptional. If you love instrumental funk & out of the box bass solos, than you'll love this cd of instrumental New York Style PHUNKY FUSION.
