Heyawana's CD is dedicated to Heyawana - an arctic wolf who was silenced by a gun. This CD is a remembrance and offering to her Spirit. This CD is a "Give Away" - which means other than whatever % is taken by a distributor all other revenues go directly to various Nature organizations. At this moment we are donating to Lakota Wolf Preserve. We will be spreading our donations to others as more CDs are sold.
Christine Campbell seeks to serve the greater whole with her music. She is a dedicated performer, educator, writer and composer. She is highly committed to dissolving the lines between performer and audience. Christine runs numerous drumming and singing circles in a world tradition.
She is a passionate environmental and activist, an award winning composer and recording artist. Her music has been used to raise awareness for the homeless, elderly and environment.
She seeks to create bridges between people and their inner and outer world. Christine allows her deep immersion and passion for the natural world to speak through her music.
This CD features a community group of 13 drummers/rattle players/singers, most of which had never played in a drum circle. It was Christine's intention to show the beauty which emerges when communities come together to listen and speak musically to each other. To round out the circle, in addition to herself, Christine brought in Ron Thomas on keyboards and Glenn Ferracone added some additional percussion tracks.
The title of the CD and title track is the very compelling "Heyawana's Song". Heyawana's Song is the only track n the CD that did not involve the community drumming group. Heyawana's song came directly from the Vision Quest and her experience with a Wolf and Wolf Spirit which had been silenced by a gun. This song is a striking call "for us all to use our voices for those who have been silenced."
Heyawana's CD is a great CD just to listen to or even better - play and sing along with!
