Album Notes
Many years ago a friend from Proti handed Christos a cd of local songs. It turned out to be a field recording of villagers singing typical songs of the day, accompanied by two musicians and a chorus of children and other locals. We found it to be a beautiful snapshot of the people and music of Proti Serron and the surrounding area. It was sentimental also because the collector dutifully recites the names of the singers and many of them are known to us and have since passed on. We dreamed of creating a similar recording to share the tunes and keep some of the songs alive. These are those songs. We have tried to stay as true to the original intent of the music as possible and hope that we have captured some of its sweetness.

We are joined by Ta Aidhonakia youth choir from Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Seattle. These kids have done a great job of learning the tunes and executing them professionally and with kefi!
