Seducing listeners with ideas and alchemies developed by ambient music pioneers Brian Eno, Robert Fripp and Steve Roach beginning in the seventies, guitarist Dave Hoskins guides this sonic tour into worlds of rich emotion and deep moody hues.
Hoskins describes his process as one of relinquishing control. “These “compositions” begin as ideas and I can’t always tell you where they come from. My mood or some memory gets me started and I process that through my guitar, and then out onto these recordings.”
The resulting album isn’t really a collection of songs in the popular sense. It’s more a series of scenes, sweeping aural vistas, to be taken in and slowly savored through the ears. This also explains the idea behind the title Biomes Revisited. Biome is a term used to describe earth’s major ecosystems such as the steppes in Asia, pampas in South America or the savanna in Australia, an idea which is echoed in the track titles.
Overall Biomes Revisited delivers an “off the beaten path” experience - a sonic tour of mood and intuition into a sometimes spooky, visual-optional vibrational world.
