Circle Project is a benefit album created by a group of East Vancouver folk singers and friends. The title is inspired by the idea that artists donate their hearts and their talent to the album to raise funds for St. James Music Academy who bring more musicians into the world therfore creating a circluar effect.
The academy provides low income families and under privileged children and youth with a free instrument and music lessons. They are consistently creating more music and continuing to foster a new generation of artists who may otherwise not be able to afford their beginnings.
The album features 19 different artists singing originals, nostalgic covers, and traditional songs including a duet with one of St. James students and an artist who mentors at the academy. It was recorded in the heart of Vancouver's downtown east side at Big In Japan Recordings, the album retains a very live and honest sound. Each song was chosen carefully with the idea that it could be enjoyed by all ages, from the youngest to the wisest. Circle project has been split into two discs: 'sun' & 'moon' each album carries a unique sound wave of beautiful voices and heartfelt messages.
