Album Notes
Circus Dawn continues to touch on more progressive styles with passion. The heavy pounding drums and rhythmic guitars blend well with Colin Roemer's creatively unique vocals segueing from hardcore vocals to melodic harmonies with ease.

Between The Lines of Gray is light years ahead of Circus Dawn's debut album, Avant Garde! Maturity and polish gained from continued growth and experience are definitely present on this album.

If you enjoyed the first, you'll love this album!

Full of a combination of passion, aggression, rawness, melody, and energy that i
Ok, Circus Dawn has my attention. Seriously, with a name like that I wasn't expecting too much. But one listen to this fantastic album and I'm convinced that you can't judge this book by it's cover. And don't think I stopped at one listen either. In fact, this album has been getting some serious play in my CD player. While this album will most likely get lumped into numerous different "flavor of the month" genre piles, this band is much more interesting than most of what those genres have to offer. What sets this apart from the pack is their emotion with which they perform. And I'm not talking about manufactured or contrived emotion. I'm talking about emotion that is totally convincing, whether it's the blood-curdling screams or the well-executed clean vocals. You walk away after listen to this going..."crap, they really meant that!" This album is full of music that is full of a combination of passion, aggression, rawness, melody, and energy that is unmatched by many of their peers. Imagine a mix of Demon Hunter, Phoenix Mourning, Stavesacre, and Still Remains. Then toss in some industrial elements and some other surprises and you have a band that isn't content with making the same rehashed stuff that everyone else is making, but one that has taken the boundaries of genres and moved them to what suits them best. And they aren't scared to do what seems to be taboo in some circles. After blasting your ears with their brutality, they whip right into a gorgeous...and I mean gorgeous ballad that is just incredibly moving. Right after they jump right back into their metallic-styled melee. But then a few songs later we are greeted with another ballad. And if you think the last one was gorgeous, this next one is so incredibly moving its ridiculous. You guys out there that have girlfriends that hate your metal? Guaranteed they will LOVE at least two of the songs on this disc. Thing'll like those songs too cause they just so darn good. But worry not my friends, they don't forget what got them here as the final two songs make your ears bleed once more.

Not to stop at good music, the band completes the package with great production, solid lyrics, and very eye-appealing artwork. Let's just say...Youngside Records scored nicely by picking up this band.

This CD is amazing. I saw you guys live and then I bought the CD. I got what I paid for.

Amazing, passionate, strong, and never doubting.
The first cd, was good. But moving onto a more mature sound Between the Lines of Gray is astonishing. I could have never predicted anything close to the success or greatness they have made on the sophmore album. Hopefully more of this will come along and they will be regonized as the true passion band they are, and always will be.

Thirty-nine minutes worth of musical thrill ride!
I would compare their musical style to a good roller coaster ride.

On the song's you'll find moments of calm melodic sounds followed by all out terror and thrills type drum and guitar work along with screaming lyrics.

This unique sound is accomplished through the great interplay of guitar parts provided by band members: Ricky Sutton- Guitar , Chris Parker- Guitar and Tyler Kent- Bass.

You'll also find drum parts that aren't willing to just set back marking beats they jump out demanding the attention of your ears! Credit for that fine work goes to band drummer, Mark Bouquet.

Last but not least are lead vocals handled by band member Colin Roemer, who's changing vocal styles breathes life into each of the songs.

All the songs found on the release were written by the band and is left up to you, the listener, to interpret their true meanings.

If you're looking for thirty-nine minutes worth of musical thrill ride then this release is for you.

Just remember to tighten up your belts, and keep your hands away from the rails!

... Ahhhhhh (sigh of utter content)......
Yet again, we are in love with a Circus Dawn CD. What else can be said about it... thrilling to own and listen to. Finally something along the lines of Gryp (who sadly lost their way with Jesus and make music no more) for our minds to wrap around! Can't wait to be rocked again by their next one.

'YES' this is going into my ipod!
I was so glad when I got word from their label that there was going to be none of the scratching and sampling found in their first album, in their upcoming album. So if you weren't a fan of their first, don't let that stop you from trying out their latest release with Youngside Records. Twelve tracks on their latest disc with 10 of them being solid musical tracks and two being short musical type samplings. "My Kind" kicks in with a great alternative metal focus with a powerful increase in hardcore overtones. The album kicks off showing this is a more mature Circus Dawn with a more internal focus on who they are as a band. "Hands to Strike" starts off with some distortion and amazing drumming and comes together with a metal ferocity that reminded me of old school Staple. Then the band takes that focus and throws in a more melodic chorus as a change of pace. "Dead Heroes" slows down the pace to a melodic pace but with a beefed up chorus that still has solid guitars to hold a solid metal influence. The overall nature of the song was unique and a nice diverse change. The album then continues that pace with an acoustic style approach with a beautiful ballad, "The Perfect." "Lotus Sky" kicks in and I was thinking, 'man, not another melodic track,' and then about a minute into it the metal onslaught hits you. The track is an awesome mixture of all the extremes of Circus Dawn. The album really doesn't come back to a full circle until "Oceans Beneath the Desert" which is an amazing alternative metal number with extreme hard driving bass lines. Overall, this is an absolutely amazing improvement from Avant Garde. This album has it all and is a complete package with Circus Dawn blooming into who they truly are.

The vocals are still very similar to their first release but this time with added maturity and depth. Colin Roemer has come into his own and found a perfect gel between melodic vocals and intense screaming. He has a vocal presence that is powerful and full of depth. Lyrically, the album is much like their debut album with an added depth of maturity and raw passion. The lyrics take the pain and frustration that so many feel and filter them with a positive approach to life and standing up under your trials. The tracks are not filled with many Christian references which allows this band to be enjoyed by all, no matter the condition of your spiritual aspect of life.

Overall, this is a solid album that will draw in a very diverse audience and 'YES' this is going into my ipod!

Nothing Like The Cover...
I heard the song 'this faceless crowd' on an HM sampler and thought it was a mean song. So i checked out the band. I saw that the cover was one of the worst I'd ever seen. it's gross, but the song was so awesome i got the CD in. It is so good. the soft songs are amazing, it has splitting guitar-work and the voice is so...inspirational. It's just so good. Just taught me a lesson. that you CAN'T judge a CD by it's case.

Doug Van Pelt, Heaven's Metal

...screaming hardcore vocals meld together here in utter beauty...
The fear of being locked up in an insane asylum sometimes feels close when a chaotic band can fuse haunting samples and noise with powerful and frenetic music. Count early Marilyn Manson in that camp, and add Circus Dawn to this motley crew. Blasting drums, tough as nails guitar tones, and howls of screaming hardcore vocals meld together here in utter beauty. [Youngside] DVP
