Words to these songs:

A Beautiful Life
© Clifford A Henricksen 1991

If I could write a book about someone
Masterpiece when it all was done
Maybe even be number one
What a Beautiful Life it would be

I could tell a tale of pain and doubt
Make you guess what it’s all about
Clever as hell how it all turned out
What a Beautiful Life it would be

And if my life had wealth and fame
I’d sure be ahead of this money-game
I could have anything in the world, it seems
But all that I want is inside my dreams

If I became a famous bard
And made up words in my own back-yard
I’d tell reporters “it ain’t that hard”
What a Beautiful Life it would be

A Message For You

(C) 1991 Clifford A, Henricksen, 124 Maple Terrace, Merchantville NJ 08109 (609) 663-7856

I've been trying for a long time, just to get a message through
Trying ESP and telepathy, anything to get to you

Can you read me on your wavelength, I'll try any wave at all
Even ringing on the telephone line, you don't even hear the call

Can you read my lips? There's a message for you, baby
Can you read my lips? A message for you
You can use your lips, your eyes or your spirit
Or your fingertips, can you read my lips?

Can you hear me on the heartline, don't you know we're on the air
All I want to do is get some reception,
I've got my broadcast everywhere

I tried every kind of signal I know
They all seemed to pass you by
Just try thinking hard and closing your eyes
Your eyes…

Boat Ride
© Clifford A Henricksen 1991

I took a boat ride, leaving on the high tide, all around the beautiful world
The gentle motion of the swirling ocean, rocked me like my favorite girl
Well, I saw the starlight the planets and the moonlight
Shining on the silvery sea
My mind was reeling from the wonder and the mystery

I could feel the surging of the mighty waters, rolling since the start of time
I could feel the wisdom in the ancient forest, sending me a mighty sign
I went up on the mountain and I stood in silence,
Shining in the glow of the day
Was so dazed and helpless that I couldn’t even turn away

Didn’t have a clue, didn’t know what to do
When I heard a whisper sweet and low
Said “the only reason, only reason
Only one reason I know”

It’s Love, love, love, love
Yes I do believe it’s love that makes the world go ‘round

I saw the fast train, the rockets and the jet planes
Highways and the cities too
There was rain and thunder, lightning and wonder
The power and the glory too

You can see it in the headlines, read it on the hotline
Baby don’t you realize
That the power of creation is shining right between your eyes

When you see that light everything’s all right
Baby, don’t you want to go
To the stars above, to the one you love
To the only one reason I know

It’s Love, love, love, love
Yes I do believe it’s love that makes the world go ‘round

Cool Me © Cliff Henricksen 2010 www.cliffhenricksen.com

All that I live for, all that I dream, sometimes it turns for the worse
There’ll be an answer, safe and supreme
When I’m calling out to the universe, to

Cool me, cool me, when this old world is trying to fool me
When I can’t sleep at night, when I can’t find the light
When I am too blind to see, cool me

Which way I’m going, I just don’t know, I’ll carry on with a song
Don’t know the reason, but I know I can go
Beyond that rainbow, that’s where I belong, and it

Cools me, cools me, when all my fears are trying to rule me
When I’m out on my own, when I am all alone
Shake me and make me strong and free, and

Cool me, cool me, when my broken dreams are trying to school me
When I can’t make it right, when I give up the fight
Show me the doorway and the key
And cool me

(Bridge)
Sent from the edge of the stars in the sky
And even from gardens of green
Signals like skyrockets everywhere
I close my eyes and they glow and gleam, and

Cool me, cool me, find me that highway and fuel me
I’ll let it all unfold, straight from that heart of gold
Hold me and then let me be, and cool me

Gasoline
© Cliff Henricksen 2010

Gasoline, I’m a fool for you
Gasoline, I’m a fool for you
A little bit of gasoline, good for everything you do

Bought a tank of gasoline, kind that makes a motor mean
Put it in the blue rocket, turn the key, load and lock it
Push on the accelerator, open up the carburetor
Gonna take her for a spin, high-compression motorin’

Got a rocking blue machine, all I need is gasoline
Racing competition cam, 4-11 rear-end
Satisfaction guaranteed, everything I’ll ever need
Little Cobra’s sleek and lean, all I need is gasoline

Driving on a summer night, racing from the traffic light,
Think you want to shut me down? be the other way around
Say you got a GTO? Buddy you don’t want to go
Up against the blue machine, all I need is gasoline

Oh, how I love to wander, when I’m dreaming late at night
To a place down south of a Greenland, where there’s a certain kind of light

There’s a girl that I rememeber, now she’s just a memory
But the heavens slide and they slip aside, when the spirit comes to me

She’ll be passing through the twilight, like a cloud on a misty sea
Gliding out over the waves on the water, flying in a wind so free

Martha, Martha, now your’re just a part of a thought of mine
Today, you came, looking for a bit of my time
Wanting, just to settle down in peace and still
Someday, you will, oh Martha

Oh, the men they sail on the ocean, and some die on the foreign land
But for all they roam, they dream of a home
And the touch of a woman’s hand

Now Martha she waits by the window, in the house by the harbor’s side
For the ones on the mighty ocean waters
And a sail on the rising tide

Martha, Martha, now your’re just a part of a thought of mine
Today, you came, looking for a bit of my time
Wanting, just to settle down in peace and still
Someday, you will, oh Martha

Shine For Me
(C) 1995 Clifford A, Henricksen
72 Main Street, Framingham MA 01702 (508) 820 3069

In a lonely room,In a lonely room, I'm watching you, from far away
In a lonely room, before too soon, a change will come, from far away
Nobody knows of the light in my window
Nobody knows what I see
Nobody knows that the light in the shadows
Sets me free, when you shine for me

In a crowded room, In a crowded room I'm watching you, from far away
In a crowded room, In a crowded room I'm watching you, glow like an ember
Nobody knows you're a blaze of glory
Nobody knows what I see
You smile for them, have a conversation
But you shine for me

(chorus)
Shine for me, shine for me, oh how you shine for me
Like an angel's love, like the stars above
Oh darling, oh how you shine for me

In a holy room, In a holy room I'm watching you, clear as a crystal
In a holy room, we'll be there soon, so far away, far away
Nobody knows, nobody follows, nobody hears or sees
My eyes see a light and a soul reflection
How you shine for me, shine for me

(chorus)
Shine for me, shine for me, oh how you shine for me
Like the stars at night, like the candle light
Oh, darling, oh how you shine for me

Shine for me, shine for me, oh how you shine for me
Like an angel's love, like the stars above
Oh darling, oh how you shine for me

Steady Roll (140)
(C) 1993 Clifford A, Henricksen
72 Main Street, Framingham MA 01702 (508) 820 3069

Moon on the rise and, I see fires on the river side
There's a Night Owl calling, signs from the other side
Yes, I know, it's time for that steady roll

Tossing and turning, shaken and mystified
That melody's playing, I feel like I've been hypnotized
Ooh my soul, must be that steady roll

(I got the) Blues in the morning, and I play till the sun goes down
Shout in the evening, howl like a bloodhound
Thrill my soul, when I'm on a steady roll

We’re gonna roll...

Take It Down
(C) 2010 Clifford A, Henricksen
72 Main Street, Framingham MA 01701 (508) 820 3069

Of all the planets in the universe, we got it especially wrong
Every time we try to make it on our own
The devil come along

Now he built a house of corruption, with rooms full of lying and pain
People sad and suffering and they don’t know what to do
So bring me that wrecking chain, we’re going to

Take it Down, Oh, take it down
Don’t leave a bit of it standing
Take it Down, down to the ground
Get to working and planning

I got to find the believers
And put them on the wrecking train
Somebody to stand up and testify and
Someone to lend a hand, ‘cause we’ll be

Knocking on the doors of the big house
Shake it till the walls come tumbling down
Bring it on home, with steel and conviction
Yeah, we’re gonna take it down

Take it Down, Oh, take it down
Don’t leave a bit of it standing
Take it Down, down to the ground
Get to working and planning

Take it Down, Oh, take it down
Don’t leave a thing for tomorrow
Take it Down, down to the ground
We got to stop all this sorrow

THE BONES KEEP WALKING
(C) 1991 Clifford A, Henricksen, 124 Maple Terrace, Merchantville NJ 08109 (609) 663-7856

Beginning of time, for the human race
Troglodite man, got a surprise on his face
He learn about the fire, and the devil too
But the bones keep walking, no matter what he do

(chorus)
The Bones keep walking, the bones keep walking, the bones keep walking
Walk on, bones, till the kingdom come
The bones keep walking, walk on, walk on, walk on

The Iron age come, the mountain come down
people scared in wonder, the destruction they found!
But the bones keep walking, when the earthquake come
Through the smoke and the fire, walk on, walk on (chorus)

Throught the age of the darkness, Hiroshima too
The Jews and the Muslims, Christianity too
You can burn up the temple, turn the people to stone
But the bones keep walking, walk on, walk on (chorus

Tokyo
(C) 1994 Clifford A, Henricksen
72 Main Street, Framingham MA 01701 (508) 820 3069

I took my baby down to Tokyo
Now I'm searching everywhere I go
I lost her on the train, I never saw her again, but I know
She's down in Tokyo

She disappeared on the Shinjuku line
She left me stranded, left me right on time
Now I see her face in every place I go,
Down in Tokyo

Now I'm living down in Tokyo, far away from the things I know
Riding on the JR train all day
At night I drive the Shutoko, or listen to the radio
Or cry out all my tears on the dock of the Bay
Down in Tokyo

I've been searching for my sweet cherie
From Akita to the China Sea
I ride the Shinconsen, all over old Japan, ‘cause I know
She's down in Tokyo

Stopping everyone I see, said "have you seen my sweet Marie
Jiro, can you spare just a bit of your time
Here's a faded photograph, the picture breaks my heart in half
Jiro, have you see this girl of mine?"
Down in Tokyo

I lost my baby, lost my only one
On the island of the rising sun
It’s still a mystery, how she slipped from me
But I know, she's down in Tokyo

Valerie
(C) 1996 Clifford A, Henricksen
72 Main Street, Framingham MA 01701 (508) 820 3069

Since the day I met you, I never could forget you
I loved the way you made that sound
It was sad and lowly, righteous and holy
I knew that I was sinking down

Down into an ocean, of soul and emotion
I cried to learn the bitter news
That I couldn’t get nearer, and it couldn’t be clearer
I don’t know the girl that’s in your shoes

(Chorus)
But you sang that song, and touched my soul
Why’d you draw that line, and stop me cold?
Close your eyes, who do you see? Oh Valerie

Valerie, you’re hiding, why ain’t you confiding?
Can’t you let nobody in?
Friends are all complaining, their tears are shed and raining
Can’t you see the mess you’re in?

Never should have found you, there’s such a wall around you
Ain’t nobody getting through
Even though you chill me, Valerie you thrill me
Singing out the way you do
(Chorus)
When you sang that song, you touched my soul
Why’d you draw that line, and stop me cold?
Close your eyes, who do you see? Oh Valerie
(Solo on C Am C Am F G C 2x )
Valerie, Valerie, can’t understand your mystery
Valerie, Valerie, this can’t be love, ‘cause it’s scaring me
Chorus, close your eyes…(3x)

Where Would We Be Without Baby?
© 2010 Clifford Henricksen

When the words of love were written all down
For the lovers of the world and the lovers of that sound,
The poets of the time said it all in a beautiful way.

They said everything that a lover wants to hear
From a new love feeling to a heart broken tear,
But they never would have said it
If they never had this one word to say, oh say:

Where would we be without baby?
Where would we be without baby?
Rock and roll words have never been heard
Without baby, bay ee ay ay bee.

Now "Baby I Love You" brought me down on my knees,
And i love to hear James Brown sing "Baby, Baby, Please!"
There was “Cheri Baby”, and “baby be mine”,
Sweet Baby James and “my baby's so fine”

From the back streets of Paris to the beach in LA.
Everybody's got a baby to talk to and say:
"Baby, baby ooh baby, baby."
Been saying it then; still saying it today.

Now the ladies say "darling"
And “sweetie” and "dear"
But the men sing the names
That they love to hear;
Like "Roxanne" and "Lucille" and "Maybelline"
Singing about "Mustang Sally" and even "Nadine."
But nobody said it as sweet and as true,
As "baby darlin'," and "baby, I do."
Of all the words in the popular song,
Baby's the one that lives on and on....

Where would we be without baby?
Where would we be without baby?
Rock n roll words have never been heard
Without baby, bay ee ay ay bee.

Wonderful
(C) 1996 Clifford A, Henricksen
36 Nelson Street, Framingham MA 01702 (508) 820 3069

I've seen it in my own life, oh it's like a miracle
You can see it all around you, it's not complicated
Heal any misery, make a baby wonder
Hit you like a lightning and thunder

(chorus)
It's love, make you feel wonderful
Love, makes you feel so fine
Even in the darkest night, in the darkest night
It’s love, gonna make it shine

If you stop and think about it, it's so simple
You don't have to read about it, it just comes to you
(Like a sweet breeze)
Keeps the big wheel turning, keeps the home fires burning
Soothe any lover's yearning

(chorus)

Just let it roll on, it's so easy
And let it find a way to set you free

(chorus)
