"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
CoryLavel is the type of person that personifies the phrase, 'Positive Energy!' Refreshing so, Cory is a young man perfectly content to perform for a young, hip audience as well as the older, mature generations. This is an artist to be enjoyed and admired by all ages. Usher and Ginuwine had better hold on to their hats because this young dynamo's enchanting smile and energy-to-spare attitude will give these guys a run for their money in the R&B/Hip-Hop markets. With musical influences including Prince, Michael Jackson, and Stevie Wonder, Cory's smooth style and grace are second only to his genuine charm and love of music.
The third of three sons, Cory has been blessed with a strong male influence his entire life in addition to the love and support he received from his parents, Clifton and Ruby Lewis. Cory's love of music began at an early age but it was with his high school choir that he began to nurture his singing talent. Â While still in high school, Cory coupled two years in the choir with two semesters of formal vocal training under Dr. Belan of Cal State Los Angeles. Cory sang in an R&B group for four years before deciding to pursue a solo career. Â Collectively he and brothers Clifton Jr. and Sheldon formed Lewis Entertainment.
When asked what he likes to do with his free time, Cory lights up and responds, "I love to write songs" and he enjoys creating new beats with his producer and close friend G'harah. When asked on his role in co-producing his album, Cory says, "It's so much fun to create a new sound that the world has never heard, and then have people fall in love with your music!" The person that Cory most admires is Michael Jackson. "He is such a great entertainer, and you know you will always get a wonderful show!" While Cory is a huge fan and would love to perform with him someday, he would also like to create music with Timbaland, Dr.Dre, Prince, Ludacris, Ja Rule, Eminem, Missy, Jay-Z, Nas, and The Neptunes.
When asked whom he thinks he sounds like, Cory smiles broadly and replies, "A mix of Sisqo and Tyrese. I'm a quiet guy with a loud singing voice." It is Cory's dream to one day be a platinum plus singer/songwriter. Cory would also like to help his mother, father, two brothers, and give back to the Los Angeles community. He envisions following the example of Earvin "Magic" Johnson, known universally for his illustrious 13-year professional NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers, who has redefined himself as a successful businessman and philanthropist. Â Someday he will have all of his dreams accomplished, but for now Cory is content creating music with his friends for the world to enjoy. "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far they can go."
