Crystal Jones is a singer/song writer who has a devoted following in music venues across the New York and Pennsylvania Tri-State areas. Her sultry renderings of Adult Contemporary R & B tunes have made her a favorite attraction on the local music scene.
Raised in the New Jersey towns of Westfield and Plainfield, Crystal entered her first talent show at the age of nine where she realized she born to sing on stage. Upon entering high school she joined the choir, working closely with her music teacher Heather Lee who helped her to hone her musical skills and develop her personal style. She continued her studies with vocal coach Diane Green.
Never too long without a band that she either helped form or was invited to join, Crystal’s repertoire is varied. She has shared the stage with Gerald Alston, Eric Gable, Colonel Abrams, and Sybil. Crystal’s influences are diverse, spanning musical genres, giving her melodious voice a distinct sound that can smoothly transition from an R &B Ballad to a smoky Jazz tune. Many artists have influenced and inspired her over the years including: Phyllis Hyman, Anita Baker, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Teena Marie, Ledisi , Dakota Staton, Mahalia Jackson, Donny Hathaway, Sam Cooke, and Barbara Streisand.
After singing a duet with Tim Shider on his solo project, “Betcha Never Thought,” it was apparent there was magic in the collaboration. A musical bond was formed leading to the release of Crystal’s first single “Never Knew.”
