About "Shapinska Rock" n. (shuh-PIN-ska rawk)
The idea of Shapinska Rock began to take shape when a house fire destroyed all of Crystal's belongings except her guitar. A few days later, she was sent to Europe by a company that could no longer afford to pay her after two weeks. Jobless and homeless, Crystal seized the opportunity and remained in Europe for half a year. She roamed the streets of Denmark, Czech Republic, UK and Spain, with her guitar, notebook and a simple recording set up.

Crystal came back to the US determined to bring Shapinska Rock to fruition. She met producer/multi-instrumentalist Filippo DeAngelis a few months after her return and they began production. As recording progressed on the album, a live band grew out of the studio sessions. Crystal Eastman sings and plays guitar, DeAngelis plays bass, and Brian Scholl plays drums.

Crystal and the Wolves started playing out in May 2005 and recently completed a two-week tour. Always fighting, on tour they played a benefit at CBGB to save the historic punk rock club from closure. Back in San Francisco, they continue to hit the streets playing and recording in their own home studio. Since July they have independently distributed over 2000 copies of "Shapinska Rock Sampler-EP", a snapshot of their debut album that will be available this winter. The LP Shapinska Rock will feature great pop songs with insightful lyrics that have a hopeful perspective presented in an endless variety of styles.

"Shapinska Rock" is a place (either physical or within oneself) that creates the opportunity for the most to be made of any situation. It is a perspective that is passionate and insightful, and a philosophy that is pragmatic yet hopeful, with lots of room for merriment and action.

not one weak track...cool band
I checked out this band on My Space a few weeks back and am well pleased they sent me through a press pack. I would would describe Crystal And The Wolves as a Pop band with a slight Rock edge in places. However these aren´t an ordinary Pop band as their songs are written from an inner passion perspective by the vocalist Crystal Eastman - Most Pop is based around artificial nonsense. The six tracks on here are taken from their debut album which is going to be released in December. On this release there´s not one weak track. listening to ´Lullaby For Shai´ and ´Lucky Girl´ shows how cool Crystal and her band are. Yeah you should have a listen. (Self Financed) 8/10
