ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Thirty years ago, Reed Chandler, Rob Siegel and Greg Edwards were serving the interests of the Baha'i Faith in Chile, South America, when their music reached the ears and spurred the interest of a small record company. Produced in three days with well known and respected local musicians in Santiago, the original LP was distributed throughout the country. The rhythms and harmonies were so novel at the time, they were afforded the opportunity to extensively travel the length and breadth of Chile performing in concerts and interviewing with the press and radio. While the songs were nearly all in English, their message of unity, peace and optimism was felt deeply by the hearts of their listeners and Caminando Juntos (La Flauta),in particular, has spread throughout the Spanish speaking world and remains a favorite today.

Very positive lyrics and very 70's
I am impressed with the lyrics and that it came from a South American country that was in political turmoil at the time. If this is "introducing", what else have they done? I can't seem to find them and would like to make contact.

One of my favourite albums!
This is one of my favourite albums. I actually own an original LP and this CD transfer sounds amazing! I love all the songs on the album, they've really got groove, especially Lovely, Lovely Country. Reed and Rob both play acoustic guitars which are panned left and right in the mix, each one of them doing different things which is quite fun to hear. Then Greg's electric lead guitar in the middle, and occasionally piano, adds to the arrangments incredibly. Reed's lead vocal is very solid and Rob's harmony vocals enhance the songs even more, giving them a relaxing pleasant tone. The Chilean musicians who accompany them on drums, bass, sax, flute, percussion and electric guitar really do a great job and the music has vibe. The songs transmit pure energy through both the music and the lyrics. This album was engineered by Franz Benko on a 4 track tape recorder (the mixer probably had more than 4 channels) and it seems to me that all the instruments were recorded simultaneously. Then the vocals were overdubbed and bounced a few times in order to create lots of layers of vocals and harmonies. I remember listening to this record in my childhood during the seventies in England and wishing I could meet these guys someday in Chile. Well, I did!

Excellent and way ahead of their time for sure!
I heard that this album was originally produced with a 4-track recorder in 1974. Unbelievable quality if this is truly the case! I would like to know more about the sound engineer and the quality of other productions in Chile. Great album!

Truly an album that speaks to one's heart and soul
I initially acquired two copies of Chandler, Siegel & Edwards incredible album in the mid 70s when I was residing in Vitoria, Espirito Santo, Brazil. Unfortunately, I lost both copies when I returned to the U.S. Their music, so entirely unique and almost mesmerizing, touches one's heart and soul at the deepest levels. The blending of instruments, voices, lyrics, and rhythyms, together with their source of inspiration represents some of the best undiscovered talents of that era in global music. Had the band been part of the American folk-rock scene, we would all still be listening to most of their songs on classic rock music FM stations on a daily basis. I rank their music up along with the best of that era. Upbeat, soothing, harmony at its best!!! Being able to once again acquire multiple copies of the original CD literally brought tears of joy to my eyes. Thank you!!!
