This a CD for the ages. The mantra and the music will always remain fresh and inspiring.
The Gayatri Mantra is one of the most profound prayers of Humanity’s history. It has an amazing cumulative effect, not just on the individual but also on our collective consciousness. This is no surprise since millions of people have chanted the Gayatri for over three thousand years.
Listening to, chanting or meditating to this mantra brings manifold benefits that can be physical, emotional or spiritual in nature. So be gentle on yourselves and allow this mantra to do what your Self calls it to do.
Pamela K. from Petaluma, CA writes “I wanted to thank you for the incredible blessing that I have received through your CD. I bought one and decided that this was a gift to be shared, therefore, I bought another one. I have listened to many meditation CDs but not one has had the ability to reach within me such a deep place of absolute truth and gratitude as yours has. Many thanks to you and Tomas Michaud for sharing your gift.”
In early 2007, collaborating with a well-known Bay Area based guitarist and recording artist Tomas Michaud, Chandra-Shekar began to record “The Magic of Gayatri”, a musical and descriptive journey with one of the oldest prayers known to humanity – The Gayatri Mantra. Bikram Rajkumar, one of India’s foremost flute players, added his sensual music to three tracks.
Chandra-Shekar and Tomas Michaud will forward a third of the net proceeds to The Rakum School for the Blind in Bangalore. The sale of every CD means that 6 to 8 meals can be provided for these orphans. The rest of the proceeds will go to other causes and to creating more healing music of this genre. You can watch and listen to these blind children chanting the Gayatri Mantra on YouTube (Chandra-Shekar, Rakum).
Dr. Tom Pinkson, noted psychologist, shaman and author, says, “It is such a treat to receive this legacy of Indian spiritual wisdom in a form that is easy to take in, especially for the Western Mind, and yet one that produces such powerful impact and healing.”
Tomas Michaud and his Music
Tomas Michaud's music is described by reviewers as “Deeply soulful, softly passionate, and inspiringly uplifting"
A quote from his website:
“Tomas creates music that is exotic with a lingering sense of the familiar. Perhaps it's his ability to meld the sights and sounds of his travels to far away places with his upbringing in the American pop culture. He writes the kind of songs that creates images of places you'd like to be often - even if only in your imagination. His influences are such diverse music talents as Carlos Santana, who communicates profound beauty in the way he plays even a few notes, and the Gipsy Kings, who are masters at creating songs which take the listener on a romantic, exotic adventure.”
Bikram Rajkumar - Bansuri Flute
Bikram is an incredible Bansuri flute player who has trained in classical Indian music. A long-standing friend of Chinmayo, Bikram has played on many international productions, including several by Georg Deuter, Karunesh and Prem Joshua.

"This is a truly unique gift that Chandra-Shekar has given us. He has revealed the Gayatri Mantra in a way that is deeply respectful and yet easily accessible. For the serious seeker, the explanations are carefully done yet elegantly simple, and for the new explorer this is a wonderful aid to relaxation and deep meditation. This ease of accessibility is an important step in the evolution of this mantra, especially to Westerners."

"The Gayatri came into my life through divine intervention! After being diagnosed with cancer, I reached out to friends who introduced me to Chandra-Shekar. Through his help with hypnosis and visualization, I became attuned with myself and the universe. I stopped being sorry for myself.
It was then that he introduced me to the Gayatri Mantra. The Gayatri changed my life and sent me on my journey of healing.
Chandra-Shekar’s rendition of the Gayatri spoke to my heart and to my sub-conscious on a vibrational level. Listening to the Gayatri helped me through my surgery. In the past, I have had other surgeries but this surgery was the easiest one by far. When I woke up after five hours of anesthesia, I felt like I had been napping. I was amazed. My stay in the hospital was supposed to be five days to one week; I was out in three. The nurses called me their star patient. I give thanks to Chandra-Shekar and the Gayatri Mantra for my rapid recovery, both physically and emotionally. The Gayatri and I have become one, and as I still listen to it everyday, I feel my heart beat in unison to the rhythm of his chanting."
"Chandra-Shekar's voice is like exotic, deep, dark chocolate as he speaks and chants the Gayatri - sensual, mysterious and wise. His music is soothing and healing. His chanting accompanies me throughout the day."
"I think it sells itself when people have the chance to hear it. I want to spend more time with it, concentrated and thoughtful time, as it is more than just the repetitions of the prayer. It serves as an introduction to the philosophy, history and traditions behind it. And then at other times, I just want to listen and absorb the mysterious quality of the prayer and its vibrational quality. Tomas Michaud’s music is wonderful. A great choice on your part."
