Rigormortis on the Ridge

by Danny Cohen

An accesible blues/pop/bizarro/psychedelic late 60ish stooledge done in a real studio with just me and a good drummer. Though done in June, themes are still relevant to world/U.S. debacles. Deemed superior to outtake tracks from earlier works.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This is the first REAL album I have done (been recording for 50 years) in the sense that It was done in a real studio at one time with one sound and one approach. 'We're All Gunna Die' on Anti Records was very close but not as unified style wise. It was recorded last June but I was reluctant to release it without a label. My ex was to scout for a smaller one and an old hermit said he'd start a label, but it was like when the 3 Stooges almost jumped off a skyscraper but a promoter came along and he turned out to be insane, as the guy needed a grant based on my past sales! I worried there were not enough 'A' sides on this collection and planned to record even newer material direct to computer, but the engineer was losing his mind over personal crises and bailed after many delays. The arty 'B' side aspects are assuaged by accesible (for me) chord changes rooted in Beatle Pop and blues, and probably less pretentious than the 'occupy' song and some other anthemesque tunes I had to postpone recording. I also tried to edit different mixes, but realized the feel was compromised and I should have left well enough alone (not to mention presence lost by dumping original into a computer). So the concensus spearheaded by the hermit was that it all held water from the get go. I play everything and do sound FX. Clint Bear played drums and the engineer congas on 2 tracks.
