ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Resounds with the spirit of cosmic couriers, sometimes eerily evocative of Moondawn-era Schultze or the classic mid period of Tangerine Dream"
Aural Innovations

Another Deep Zone ambient electronic ethno space collection from DAN POUND. Liquid Planet is absorbing, meditative, searing and soaring. Music for Inner and Outer space.

Sounds like Steve Roach, Micheal Stearns, Tangerine Dream and Vidna Obmana.

Using a wide collection of ethnic instruments, synths, processors, voice, and percussion; it is a whole different sound that may cause the listener to be transported to a higher level of consciousness.

Dan Pound was classically trained on piano, guitar and double bass at an early age and started writing songs soon after. He went on to be in the local honor orchestra and was soon writing pieces for the entire ensemble. Besides performing and composing, Dan has earned degrees in recording engineering and electronic music technology, and has received credits as 1st engineer and mixer for an indie jazz release, “Crusin’ Some Grooves” by the Steve Wolfe Quartet.

Over the last several years, Dan has developed a home project studio where he does most of his work now recording and producing his music independently. His specialties are ambient electronic/ acoustic new age/ world and soundtrack material.

Dan has earned numerous top 10 positions in various categories on Broadjam.com 's top 10 lists, and many of his pieces have been included in monthly top charts for the FM ambient radio programs, “Secret Music” and “Stars End”.
Dan’s Cd, “Solar Nexus”, was named one of the top ten Cd’s reviewed in 2006 on the review webzine, “Melliflua”.

Dan’s credits also include:
Greenpeace Organization: music used for a documentary called, “Changes in Climate, Changes in Lives”.
Image maker advertising Inc.: for use of background/filler music for internet online sales promotions.
Q.O.C productions: for use of music for internet website promotions.

Influences and sound-likes are:

music intended to relax and inspire
Dan Pound's 17-track CD, "Liquid Planet", is an ambiant electronic collection of pads, strings, and environmental sound tapestries that are intended to relax and inspire. The title track, "Liquid Planet", reminds us of the cosmos with a liquid center. Track 3, "Through the Layers", begins with a sawtooth pattern with oscillating and perculating sounds as the multiple figures and voices combine. Track 4, "Moment with the Machines", is an eerie rotating mix. Track 10, "Dark Star", brings in a bit more percussion than previous tracks. There's an opening and closing vocoder sounding element that supports the sparse hits and stabs. Our favorite track, "Above and Below", grooves a bit - with a dance loop that supports Pound's experimental keyboard work. The sum total is a record of mystery that could provide interesting ambiance to a life or a soundtrack. . or both.
