Album Notes
This album tells the more-or-less linear story of a scientist who is losing touch with reality, escaping into a series of increasingly dark fantasies. Given that I am a scientist myself, I feel like I need to say immediately that this album is not in the least autobiographical, nor is it about any person I know. Obviously little bits sneak in here and there, but all of the scientists I know, including myself, are generally very happy people who do not think that they are insects, or trapped on spaceships, or personally responsible for the inevitable heat death of the universe.

One of my favorite songwriters ever
Dan always has the most ingeniously witty lyrics coupled with awesome musical talent and, being a grad student myself, this album confirms my suspicions that I will go crazy before I finish my thesis.

This is what a wry grin sounds like
Highly recommended. This music is fun, quirky, and sonically gorgeous. It's simple, but impressively full and textured.

Absolutely perfect music for sitting out on the deck, a long drive, or just getting some work done at home. Or if you're a goon.
