Album Notes
Sunshine Records is proud to announce the release of "Polkas from The Tavern", the newest recording by (2003 and 2004 Grammy nominees), Jerry Darlak and the Touch. The release of the exciting new CD is one more chapter in the success story of this popular and talented group of musicians from Western New York!

We also announce the Pre-Release of the DVD part of this project which will be available for the Christmas Holidays! A great way to bring the entire show into your home with added footage not on the CD! plus bonus scenes (bloopers of sorts, lots of laughs!)

Special Thank-you! to all the people who came to Sportsmens Tavern August 26, 2006 to join the band in the "LIVE" recording, and especially Ron Dombrowski and Greg Chwojdak of WXRL radio two of Buffalo's finest Polka DJs, also many thanks to a great friend and polka promoter Marty Biniasz. Their contributions to this recording speak for themselves!

"Polkas From The Tavern" is a "LIVE" compilation of, foot-stomping polkas, an oberek, a touching waltz medley, and a bonus cut "Dyngus Day Polka" which was a hit Dyngus Day 2006 on most Buffalo Radio Stations (Pop and Polka)!

The title tune, "At the Tavern", is a polka written and performed by the Touch (Ray and Ken) this song brings you to the "Honkiest Tonkiest Beer Joint in Town" Sportsmen's Tavern!

"Na Zdrowie", a song originally done by Marion Lush and featured on the Touch This CD 1996 , will appeal to young and old alike, as we raise our drinks high everyone yells a toast "Na Zdrowie Chlopcy Na Zdrowie"

"M. Lush Waltz Medley" The lush voice of Ken Machelski can be heard on the much requested medley of beautiful waltzes on this CD, originally recorded by Marion Lush and Jerry Darlak.

"Who Stole the Kiszka" a traditional polka with "New Life" as Tadj puts a new twist on Theft and just who your dealing with!

"Your Mother" Oberek puts Ray Barsukiewicz on the vocals with a pod nogi, story sending a wife back to "Your Mother"

When your feeling sad and blue, forget the blues go "Dance a Polka" Touch another, Get up and Dance a Polka!

Beer Songs that everyone can sing along, helps keep the crowd in the spirit and nowhere is that more evident than in the final song in the Beer Medley "We Like Beer." Tadj wrote this humorous tribute to hops and barley, and you will definitely be joining in on the catchy chorus.

"Polkas From The Tavern" has something for everybody, including traditional songs like "Zegnal Gora /Goral" and "Remember What I Said" done Touch-style (with Polish & English lyrics). One of the most requested Touch Polkas "Del Rio Drive" adds Mike's Triple Bellow Shake. Listen to this CD and you're going to want to roll back the carpet, break open a brew, and party with Jerry Darlak and the Touch, Voted #1 Polka Party Band in the Land!

Album review by Steve Litwin (per

Bring a case of Simon Pure or Iroquois, wear your best party clothes, have a shot of Zubrowka ready and bring in Jerry Darlak and The Touch for a pure polka party time. Their latest CD, recorded live at the Sportsmens' Tavern, in August of 2006.

This one is definitely foot-stomping and is a group of Touch fans all polkabrating together. With tunes like "Na Zdrowie," "Who Stole the Kiszka," "Your Mother" oberek, and the band's trademark "Del Rio Drive" something from the entire musical book of the group is present and accounted for in this session. "At the Tavern," penned by Ray and Ken, is a Touch original and is complimented by the beer medley, "We Like Beer."

The Marion Lush Waltz medley with Ken Machelski is one of the secret gems on this CD. Anyone around in the Goral Boys' days, can relate to Machelski's magic when doing Lush songs on stage and this medley is a reminder of those times.

Jerry Darlak and the Touch are one of a kind and in this at the tavern session the band proves why they are still on stage playing polka music.

With the release of Polkas from the Tavern, the band also announced the Pre-Release of the DVD part of this project which was scheduled to be available for the Christmas Holidays. The DVD will offer added footage not on the CD! plus bonus scenes. The CD is on the Sunshine label.

Really great! Just really live and FUN!
The message comes through it is live from the tavern with people having a ball! Can't go wrong with Beer abd Polkas!!!

Good stuff Maynard.
You play polkas the way they were meant to be played. I grew up on polka music in Minnesota. I live in Arizona now, no polka bands that I know of here.
