ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
I’ve always enjoyed playing Christmas standards and carols. My wife would often tell me, “You play these these songs with such a great spin. They’re so unique and engaging, and I’ve never heard them played like this before. Why don’t you record them?” So I finally chose some of my favorites, and voila! This collection that has been getting a terrific response.

These tracks enhance the mood of any gathering. Live grand piano, beautifully recorded in the tranquility of Ulster County NY.

A Holiday Delight
Daryl Kojak's ''Holidays at the Piano'' is vastly pleasing. His take on fourteen Christmas and New Year's favorites includes touches of blues, country, and especially jazz. Playing solo, without bass, drums, or singers, enables Daryl to establish a satisfying intimacy with the listener as he explores each carol's simplest elements himself. From his innovative beginning to ''Christmas Time'' to his lush, slightly haunting ''The Christmas Song'' (first version), past his playful ''I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus'', through his sweeping ''What Child Is This'' and his lovely, poignant ''Jolly Old Saint Nicolas,'' Daryl's virtuosity is abundantly on display. His novel interpretation of ''Silent Night'' is compelling; his fingers seem truly magical on ''Auld Lang Syne''. We played his CD in the background while eating our Christmas dinner and it set the mood perfectly for us. I can also see people including it as background music when they host parties or just to keep a festive mood around the house.
