ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
There Was One - Music and Lyrics by Dave Ostrowski

There Was One is a song about moments, our experience of them in the present, how they revisit us from the past, how we store them all away in the sea of thens, how they leave without a trace, or are carried back in waves, to the now. It’s about memories, our relationships with them, and our experience of them, when they, too, were nows. They drift off, invisible, in the wake of the next, and return when they do, to shape the present moment, and inspire new ones.

Lyrics:

That one had been so long ago
And could've gone on forever
The last thing I ever really hoped for
Passed before my eyes again today
When time flew away, those birds stood still

And still wonder, if there was one
When we looked from the east, there was one too
That place to call home, was closer than anyone knew

Never sure when some chapters end
I still long to hear that call
From a mountainside there was once
One snow so deep, a tale so tall
That freedom time, return all at once again

Instill wonder, when there was one
With everything to lose, there was one two
The dreaming that was realized, turned nevers to forever

We'll remember the time, the feel,
The key, the place, the when it all began
Now and then we see for real, a now
Another now - now

Ooo, we throw caution to the bitter wind
Look there, that sign ahead says…

When the waves recede, remember
The time forgets to sleep
There, another one of them, again
Off to sea, held in the wonder, still wonder

Remember
To see again
Return to
That one become
The dream time
The dream time happened
For ever when
Now when time says so – E–A – return, come home
Now then – E-A-E-A-E-O – so whole, come home
Still we wonder
Still…

One got in the way, today
Ooh, there was one
The stars align, and heavens give way
Ooh, there was one, too
And the sun and moon, whirling worlds, spin away

Now we'll be the key to places ours
The feel of waking, whole again
To return to see the we, that we’d become, now
