ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This CD is all about the music that is played on Bourbon Street in New Orleans today. Along with Dixieland Jazz with standard traditional jazz songs like the Saints and Darktown Strutters Ball, the CD has Swing standards like Look For The Silver Lining and All By Myself, and R&B covers of songs by Jesse Hill and Reginald Hall. Californian Dave Ruffner, leader of the west coast juggernaut Blue Street Jazz Band and a recent transplant to New Orleans, has assembled for this recording a cast of renowned New Orleans jazz musicians. Guesting on the album is enigmatic Steamboat Willie, who holds court nightly at the Cafe Beignet on Bourbon Street. Tom Fischer, one of New Orleans best reed players and Bourbon Street musician appears on the album. Drummer Bob Walters has played on Bourbon Street for almost 40 years with legendary New Orleans musicians such as Lou Sino, Roy Liberto, and Murphy Campo. Bassist Doug Potter, a native New Orleanian, at one time was in Al Hirt's band. Another New Orleanian, Young Chris Edmunds is highly sought as a guitarist and banjo player in the Crescent City. Another drummer who appears on the CD is the loveable John "Raddy" Lowery, New Orleans born and bred. Rounding out the cast of characters is another New Orleans boy, journeymen pianist and world traveller Steve Rohbuck. Steve's specialty is New Orleans R&B and his Dr. John like vocals are spectacular.
