ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Guitarist Dave Wood has taken a giant step forward after years spent behind the scenes as a sideman in several successful bands. Échappée means escape....escaping musical boundaries, genres and titles that we are so anxious to embroider on everything new that we hear. No limits, no restrictions, no holding back.

Dave put together an amazing cast for Échappée....on drums, Chris Michael, with a guest spot by Doug Clark on the title track, Dave Hertzberg on upright bass, Matt Shulman on trumpet, Andy Parsons on saxophone, Nick Mancini on vibes, Roland Satterwhite vocalist on Cannon Love, and Christian Howes on violin and viola.

BIO:
Guitarist/producer/composer Dave Wood has performed with Jesse McCartney, Marie’ Digby, Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Laura Bryna, Teddy Campbell/Sy Smith (American Idol Band), Gladys Knight and music director for Hilary Duff touring all over the world. His guitar work can be heard in many feature films and film trailers such as ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’ and the upcoming Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz movie ‘Knight and Day’.

A Berklee College of Music graduate, Dave spent 6 years in New York City working with artists like Norah Jones and Greta Gertler. Aside from promoting his own drum ’n’ bass fueled project ‘The Dave Wood Trio’ for 5 years in Los Angeles, he has been seen performing with American Idol winner Taylor Hicks, the David Foster produced band ‘Big Dume’ and grammy award winning jazz composer Maria Schneider. Dave has been seen on virtually every TV
show including The Tonight Show, Ellen, Dancing with the Stars, Dick Clark's New Years Rockin Eve and many more.

Dave started Music Evolutions Inc in 2003 to house his music studio and publishing company. He wrote his first book ‘The Secret Guitar Method’ in 2004 for aspiring guitarists everywhere and Music Evolutions Studios was featured in Electronic Musician Magazine for his first album ‘Echappee’. In 2009 Dave, along with drummer/studio partner Mike Bennett, opened the music studio 'The Spot' in Los Angeles where they continue producing, writing and performing for artists around the world. He is currently endorsed by Gibson Guitars, Taylor Guitars, Fuchs Amplifiers and Dean Markley Strings.

Never Stops Growing on you
This album is the first of what will be many staple albums for Dave Wood I am sure. He was my guitar, drum and bass teacher when he was 18 and I was 14 and if I could play now like he did at 18, I would probably be at my peak. Virtoustic talent mixed with taste, soul and creativity is all this now Memphian could ask for. I don't plan on taking this one out of my car CD player for quite some weeks. Thanks Dave.

Incredible album! Dave has created some music that won't be boxed in by conforming to one style. Innovative ideas, handled by first rate musicians. Something wonderfully new to let your ears get a grasp of.

The brass ring
I discovered Dave through a mutual colleague, who praised Dave's talent, skill and musicianship. I decided to find out for myself and was only reminded why I have grown to respect said colleague so. Échappée reaches far and wide yet somehow remains firmly rooted. It is said one's reach should exceed his grasp. Dave's grasp of the music and it's heart is sure and strong. I am eager to see what he reaches for next.

Innovative, spontaneous, refreshing!
Dave Wood's eschapee is a work of art. Dave incorporates jazz, fusion and rock to create a sound that is totally new and yet provacatively familiar. You can rock out to it or just kick back and relax. Great, feel good music with brilliant musicianship!!! Thanks Dave!

Entertaining From Beginning to End!!!
This is a fantastic CD. As soon as I got it I played it over and over again! I played it while I had guest over and every one kept asking who is this. This is a great Jazz Rock album. The title track alone is well worth the investment. Should be in any discriminating music lovers collection. Best CD I've heard in a long time.
Bravo

The best instrumental CD of the year!
The songs in Echappee are amazing. If you are a "true" music aficionado you will love the textures, and beautiful fusion from the various genres that Mr. Wood has drawn from. What grabs you is the mastery of musicianship and the beautiful and innovative arrangements that this CD contains! This CD will truly be a treasure in my collection!
