ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This is the version of the song Rango! that I submitted to Paramount to be considered for use in the movie "Rango." The song was written many years before the movie was conceived of. It was a starting point for the character Rango and the story that was written, but the story told in the movie is quite different than the story told in this Western Ballad. The character Bad Bill was also created in the song, and he was written into the movie as well. Los Lobos recorded an excellent version of it, and if you compare the two, you'll see that it was produced to fit the movie. Some verses were dropped, and horns were added for the film. An instrumental surf version of the song was also recorded and appears in the film, and the melody can be heard in the score from the opening moment and at key points-- one of the best being the exciting part when the posse rides.
