ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Review - The Sun News:
"Is it 1974 again?
It's impossible to not hear strains of James Taylor in this local singer/songwriter's impressive debut disc - especially the title track, which could have been stolen right out of Sweet Baby James' secret song stash. Day's voice isn't quite as nasally as Taylor's though, and his lyrics aren't as syrupy either. Day paints the perfect picture of the awkwardness surrounding a first date in the romantic, but way too short "A Single Rose". "First date, seventeen/a single rose and a head full of dreams. A nervous knock when you reach the door/it's the moment you've been waiting for.".... An unexpected treat among the ballads is the boisterous "Firecracker", which finds Day picking up the pace considerably, for a nice contrast. Overall, Day has crafted a strong collection of smartly arranged and executed acoustic-based folk pop tracks..... if you enjoy the stylings of 70's singer/songwriters, "Lullaby" is a worthy addition to your collection - with a Grand Strand twist."
-The Sun News, Oct. 2001

Nathan Day's first cd release, "Carolina Lullaby, can be best described as contemporary folk/pop. It becomes apparent at first listen that Nathan has been strongly influenced by past singer/songwriters such as James Taylor, John Denver, and Van Morrison, and the wonderful backing musicians fall in perfectly with that soft rock/pop sound of The Eagles and other "easy" sounds of the 70's. "Carolina Lullaby" touches on many styles of music, from the catchy pop sounds of "Happy Ending" to the jazzy tones of "California's A Good Place To Start" - from the country rag of "Firecracker" to soft balads like "A Single Rose" and the title track itself. Nathan also touches on the folk/rock sound with "Send It On Home" and plays some straight up rock on "Keep On Keepin' On" and "Colorado". This album also contains a beautiful hidden track titled "Times There Were Before". The lyrics to this song were taken from J.R.R. Tolkein's Lord Of The Rings with music and arrangement by Nathan.

Very Crisp and Original
This CD was very well written...I listened twice, to the entire CD attentively and was really impressed with the originality. That is something the music world today is missing a lot of. Congratulations Nate...keep writing buddy.

Original, good lyrics and variety of rhythms.
It's original, good lyrics and variety of rhythms. I like it for a change of pace in my many music tastes that go from Hip-hop,Rap and Aerosmith to James Taylor.

Just ordered my CD. Can't wait to hear the rest of the collection! I was surprised my 19yr.old son liked the songs as much as I. Good lyrics and blending of voice with the background acoustics. Nice to hear some original pieces of creativiy that touch the real feelings of life. Keep on Producing Nate!
