Queen City Blues (A Tribute)

by dd's BEEF & BLUES BAND

R&B (dd calls it boogie rockin'), a great shag tune, a powerful horn section, hot guitar leads, and a vocal like Tom Jones. Early blues we learned on stage at Park Center from the rock who made the roll, BO DIDDLEY.
Genre: Blues: Carolina Beach / Shag

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
dd plays alto & tenor saxes in harmony, performing professionally in the Southeast from Richmond, Va to Savannah, Ga. Since the 60', he entertained with the Original Fabulous Plaids from Charlotte, NC, and now performs live at his European vineyard in Mint Hill , just east of Charlotte. His company, D D Farms & Vineyard promote private Steak & Wine(Jelly) Tastings, that draw local beach & blues fans. They luv shaggin' to the blues. dd penned Queen City blues back in 1991, while recording with the Fabulous Plaids of the Queen City, but the song was only performed live, never digitially mastered until now. The powerful upbeat blues tells about the early 1960's when Carolina beach fans listened to boogie rockin' Blues on local radio WGIV, as well as WLAS(ole John R) from Nashville, Tenn. In the wee hours, Randys Record Shop played legendary R & B tunes of the mid-50's & 60's, most of which the Plaids performed on stage all across the south, including their own cd of "Sexy Ways" & "It won't be this way Always". dd and his daughter Robyn co-own the vineyard and Angus cattle ranch, dd performing with his 2 sax combo, she playing trumpet. dd's BEEF & BLUES BAND, his entertainment/catering company puts on quarterly events. He still rocks on sax, writing blues tunes to perform, and as a rancher & winemaker, knows how to grow Great Steaks & wine grapes. Let's boogie. dd
