ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Seattle minimalist rock duo Dead Ship Sailing, Zera Marvel and Graig Markel, formed in 2012 with the idea of making simple rock & roll music. Armed with guitars, vintage drum machines, and hand-wired effects pedals, they set out to record one song a week for ten weeks. Each song was completely written, recorded, and mixed in one evening, and released on Bandcamp the following morning as a free download.

Taking this same first-thought-best-thought approach they compiled 12 songs for their self-titled full length release. Blending a mixture of styles from garage rock, punk, and early electronic music, they prove that the simple things never go out of style. Dave Segal of The Stranger describes Dead Ship Sailing recordings as, “Kills/Raveonettes–like songs with rough pop immediacy, concision, and instantaneous catchiness.”
