ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Debajo del Agua is a seven-piece instrumental hip-hop band with members from Chile, Peru, El Salvador, Mexico, France and the United States. They fuse hip hop with the sweet melodies of Andean music, samba, salsa, cumbia, reggae, and jazz, creating original melodies in an innovative style. Three Emcees with socially uplifting, politically-conscious lyrics backed by upbeat Afro-Latino percussion, bamboo wind instruments, Caribbean and South American strings blend with contemporary instruments to create a truly unique sound.

Debajo del Agua has taken Colorado by storm with high-energy performances and a musical style that is irresistibly danceable. In 2008, they were nominated best hip hop group in Denver by the Westword Music Showcase and featured in performances with Salvador Santana (Son of Carlos), The Kumbia Kings, Akwid, and the Flobots. Debajo del Agua also ignited the international media welcome party for the Democratic National Convention in August.
