In her words...
“Deep Breaths of Calm” is meant to convey, serenity, quietness, peace and tranquility…
Selecting a CD’s title can often be a difficult challenge. So, when “Deep Breaths of Calm” entered my thoughts, I instantly loved its connotations and felt this project was off to a positive start.
Believe me… I need to play for my calm! My daily and weekly to-do lists are sometimes borderline unattainable, but I still strive to make my self-imposed deadlines. Playing the piano helps me to relax, attain peace of mind and regain my composure after a hectic day. While playing, I actually breathe slowly and recapture my focus in an amazing, restorative way. Sharing this marvelous feeling of calm with my listeners is extraordinarily rewarding and pleasurable for me.
Each song on this CD is meaningful to me and please allow me elaborate on these songs:
Leader of The Band – This was an especially memorable and emotional song to record, as I wanted to pay tribute to the important musical influences of my life; Tony Kovach, Paul Stewart, Evelyn Grabowski, John TV Clark, Joseph Botti, and my most recently added friend and mentor Lindsay Meehan.
Ebb Tide – Just like the oceans’ tides, this melody emulates the many wonderful people that have come in and out of my life…. Specifically, my hotel friends going back as far as 18 years ago when I began playing in the lobby and also the hundreds of Masonic friends I now have. I am thankful for so many dedicated people.
Twilight Time – This song was a favorite of Musician & Studio Producer Steve Hornbeak’s parents. Also, the “twilight” beach piano photo shoot with Photographer Laurie Elmer will always be an incredible remembrance. Both of these friends have worked their butts off helping me with my career.
My treasured and appreciated family and friends still provide unconditional love, encouragement and support to me in every possible way. I am a very lucky woman to have so many people to love and lean on. My mom, dad and brother James are my beginning foundations. Without their love and strong support, I would not be who I am today. I regularly brag about my amazing kids Keathel, Kassidy and Dakota. Not many moms in this world are more proud of her wonderful children then me. No matter what I need, my “sister” Amy is instantly available. She will work her fingers to the bone to help me and others. I have a long list of true and dear friends with Trish, Julie and Betsy being at the top. And finally, it’s impossible for me to accurately describe my very best buddy, soul mate and loving husband Ron. There is nothing that Ron wouldn’t give or do for us. He has my everlasting love, respect, admiration and gratitude… until my last breath.
I truly hope you feel soothingly rested and more relaxed after listening.
