ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This 8th album from Degenerate Art Ensemble takes us even deeper down the rabbit hole. Sonic Tales is a group of surreal songs that combine lyrical ballad, odd-pop, hypno-groove and thrash-jazz - all with a symphonic sensibility and an undeniable catchiness. Put Fela Kuti, Deerhoof, Dirty Projectors, Bjork, John Zorn's Naked City and Japanese mountain songs in a blender and you might end up with a similar flavor. This album is DAE's most accessible and vocal driven album to date, and at the same time manages to be among the group's wildest. Sonic Tales was the collaboration of DAE's vocalist Haruko Nishimura with composer instrumentalist Joshua Kohl and composer/electronics guru Jeffrey Huston.
