ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Born and raised in the Nashville area, Detra was destined to have music in her blood.

“I don’t read music that well and have always played by ear,” says Detra. “I hear a song and can usually pick out the parts. Sometimes I make up my own chords which keeps it interesting.” Although raised in the country music capital of the world, Detra always felt a stronger draw to rock and classical music.

“Nashville is Music City and is much more complex than purely country music, she says. “We have it all here. I love Nashville and wouldn’t live anywhere else.”

After many years of singing and playing in rock bands throughout the Southeast she took several years off from the road, although she continued songwriting. Her songs tend to have a certain dramatic flair not unlike herself. As with most songwriters she writes of life experiences and influences that have made her the compelling person she is.

“Lyrically my songs sometime tend to be a little daring and I have to tame them down a bit,” she admits. “The lyrics just flow from my heart and deep within my soul.” she says. “I’m very excited with some of my latest songs and can’t wait for my CD to be complete,” she continued. “Lots of very exciting things happening with a couple of my songs but not at liberty to discuss right now Just stay tuned……the best is yet to come….I am a very blessed woman. “
