Santa Monica Lawn Bowling Park is the sophomore release from the Venice trio, Devastating Karate. The EP features six, action-packed tracks of American rock-and-roll, and is the follow-up to their eponymous debut album (also available through cdbaby/iTunes).
DK debuted the new material with a live performance on KXLU, 88.9 FM - Los Angeles. DJs, Eric and Robert, from Livation said that Devastating Karate "fucking killed it!" The boys supported the new record with a west-coast tour in the fall of 2007.
Devastating Karate formed in Venice, over the summer of 2005. Rat sings and plays guitar, Zach Lewis drums and Charles Pasarell plays bass. Their eclectic sound has garnered comparisons to groups including Kings of Leon, The Pixies, Supersuckers and Elvis Costello. After playing some back yard parties, dive bars and local clubs, they released their first album and followed up with a SW tour in the Spring of 2006. They are now getting airplay in several west-coast and south-west markets. Check www.devastatingkarate.com for more information.
