ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
New jams like the silky smooth Blue Skyy, or the techno-driven Who's Bumpin show off that trademark D-Flow diversity. Other new jams like the silky smooth Blue Skyy or Cali Boogie prove the group still has it going on all these years later. Need more? The fun cuts More Manure, Lettuce In The Club, or the hillarious Meeheadsoon make it clear your listening to a Digital Underground album.

The live cuts on this record are also very special. If you've never made a d.u. show (they've done well over 1,000 of them) these cuts make you feel like you're in the room. Not just any live recordings either, these west coast shows are full of Cali energy. The crowd is into it, the band is on fire, special Bay Area guests are in the building. The only regret you have after hearing it... is that you weren't at the show the night it was recorded! This is a classic d.u. album... true and deep d.u. fans will "get it" and be in love!

A D.U. Party Better Not Stop
It pains me to say this, but i feel this is DU's weakest album. I have them all and this one just doesn't do it for me. I praise the experemental steps taken, but i just want some classic DU. Not focusing on the negative, i'm gonna touch on my favz. "Cali Boogie" captures the DU vibe for 2008. "Blue Skyy" is darn near flawless. The thick beat with Humpty and Money B going back forth just takes your mind 2 a nice place. "Step Up" is a live reworking of "I Get Around." "Thuglife Party" is a live interlude featuring the keys of 2Pac's "So Many Tears" and leads in2 "Family Freestyles" which is a tribute 2 2Pac featuring Rav Luv, Mac Mall amoungst others. "All About You" takes me back 2 familiar DU ground. Definitely a great track. "Children of The Sun" is also done in classic DU fashion...as it's a reworking of "Glotious Maximus." "Four One Four" is a great DJ track. The last gem on the album is an unplugged version of "Sex Packets." I love it, i just wish the sound quality was a tad better.

Overall, it's a gold album, but not on the level of their others. I think that if Shock-G produced all or most of the music, it would be on that level. The other producers simply can't get close 2 Shock's musical genious. Also, the fact that the DU crew isn't united throughout the album and that there are a handful of outsiders on the project also dillutes what should make this a true DU album. DU fans and fans of experimental Hip-Hop should like this. It scares me that this is being advertised as the last DU album. Hip-Hop needs DU!!! And this is NOT the album 2 walk away from the game with! Peace, Luv, and Humptyness forever! :)

What a trip!
Hard to imagine these guys are still doing there thing at first - but then again - why NOT?? Digital Underground has been a staple in my Hip Hop travels since I was 12. No need to stop now, and as the title suggest this party is still going strong. You'll want to bump Cali Boogie, Who's Bumpin, and Meheadsoon a lot. More Manure is a weird ass song, but it grows on you and the live cuts take me deep into a place I've never been before. :)

Thats My Shit therr!
You got that classic Shock and Mon DU on the very funky "Cali Boogie"!! The smoothed out jam "Blue Skyy" with fellow CDbaby artist/young DU group member YOUNG MaSS is the lick! DU puts on a legindary show, so I am digin' the live songs, especialy the classic "Sex Packets"! Shock has got some of the songs and beats that only a child of that P-funk can produce! Great to hear long time DU family members get down on tracks like: Esinchill on "Everything Ya Done 4 me", and Element on "Meeheadsoon"!
