“The Proof” picks up where “Bullet for a Broken Heart” left off, mixing atmospheric folk music with the dual attack of Hodges’ smoky voice and frenetic fretwork. Dark, twangy and lively, it’s the story of a wanted man who runs from the law, only to find that “you can’t escape the hangman’s noose.” Rumspringa, featuring “The Proof” and other original songs, will be released in early 2013.
A Nashville transplant, Hodges grew up near Muscle Shoals, AL, an area steeped in southern culture and musical history. He took a shine to bluegrass music and quickly established himself as a champion flat-picker, winning fourteen guitar competitions during his teenage years. As he grew, so did his own music; and Hodges began attracting an equal amount of attention for his old-school folk songs.
Hodges is now based in Nashville, where he has established a reputation as a virtuosic string player and soulful songwriter.
