Dirk K plays Jobim
Antônio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim (January 25, 1927 in Rio de Janeiro – December 8, 1994 in New York City), also known as Tom Jobim, was a Grammy Award-winning Brazilian songwriter, composer, arranger, singer, and pianist/guitarist. A primary force behind the creation of the bossa nova style, Jobim is acknowledged as one of the most influential popular composers of the 20th century. His songs have been performed by many singers and instrumentalists within Brazil and internationally.
At an early age, my parents introduced me to the music of Antônio Carlos Jobim. The album featured a singer, Astrud Gilbero, the style of music was Bossa Nova. I fell in love immediately.
All those great compositions were hidden somewhere in my mind for years. It was until I started performing with the Brazilian singer and guitarist Kleber Jorge, that all those memories came back and as a result I decided to record 10 of my favorite Jobim classics. I know, I am not the first one to do so, but I hope to give these compositions a new and fresh appeal with my signature Dirk K guitar sound.
This is for all my fans;
