An ordinary summer night became a powerful and life-changing encounter for those that attended Freedom to Worship, the live album recording of Minister D. Jakolby Washington & JudahLYFE. On August 21, 2010 Min. D. Jakolby Washington and JudahLYFE lead a full congregation in praise and worship through music, dance, and intercession to capture and share God’s heart with the world. This experience led to the 10 track debut album by Min. D. Jakolby Washington & JudahLYFE entitled Freedom to Worship.
Min. D. Jakolby Washington’s authoritative and heart-felt vocals were the key instrument used to lead the congregation on this journey. Floor pounding percussion and high energy bass slaps, to hand raising ballads comprised of sweetly stroked piano chords were but a few backdrops to this journey into the heart of God.
Min. D. Jakolby Washington & JudahLYFE flowed with unrestrained pursuit to make the most of each moment on Freedom to Worship. High energy gospel “shout” songs as found on What’s Coming is Better, classically infused ballads such as Worship the Lord, reverent yet heart shaking arrangements as found in Shower Your Rain, to spontaneous moments of adoration work together to offer an organic musical blend that grips the heart and opens the listener’s ear to the good news.
Sweetly crafted melodies adorned with gripping vocals from Min. D. Jakolby Washington & JudahLYFE give Freedom to Worship an even firmer foundation for the inspiring messages of hope, peace, love, and rest present throughout the album.
Freedom to Worship goes beyond church as usual and dives deep into the very heart of a man that is thankful, and ever ready to receive the love that only a divine Father can give.
Each track offers its own unique blend and feel. What ties it all together is how Min. D. Jakolby Washington bravely pours out through song with an authenticity of heart and a sound drawn from his soul that allows the listener to let go. The same liberty and power captured during the recording yields a sound on Freedom to Worship that works to reach into the heart of the listener and connect them with the true source of life found in Jesus Christ.
