Home Sweet Home

This CD is filled to overflowing with concert favorites of the Dodworth Saxhorn Band. Many of the tunes were popular during the American Civil War. Vocal soloists Ted Badgerow and Corie Root are featured on several pieces, including "Home Sweet Home," "The Last Rose of Summer," and "Goober Peas."

As a Civil War civilian re-enactor, this is the music that makes me feel as if I truly stepped back into the past.
This CD is chockfull of period music done in that wonderful 19th century style. Great instrumentals such as "Listen To the Mockingbird" and "Jumping Galop," and wonderful traditional vocals like "Hard Times" and "Goober Peas." Plus, they play "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" in the background while a member recites the Gettysburg Address. There are 19 Civil War era tunes in all, including "Jeannie With The Light Brown Hair," "Dixie Medley Quickstep," "Maggie By My Side," "The Vacant Chair," and even Jay Unger's "Ashokan Farewell."
If you like period music - especially mid-19th century period music - I can't recommend this disc enough.
By the way, if you get a chance, check out one of their shows (go to their web site for tour dates - google them!). Entertainment the old fashioned way!
