Most of these sketches oringinated in the 60's when I was playing piano at the Dorado Beach Hotel in Puerto Rico with Angel Dueno on drums and
Raful Martinez on bass. The trio was together for over 10 years, 6 hours a night 6 nights a week. We got so tight that we were completing each others musical thoughts like Donald Duck's nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie. At first I was a little self conscious about playing Latin music with these guys because they were both born with a clave sticking out of each ear. One night I confided this to Raful and he told me "Don, you just play jazz, we make it Latin". Angel and Raful are now playing in the Big Casino Lounge in the sky. Well, I'm still here and still and to them this CD is dedicated.
