In 1996, Maine native, singer-songwriter Don Campbell recorded Flowerchild with the Blues, a 10-song adult contemporary CD which later earned a second place finish for Contemporary Album of the Year in the Just Plain Folks Music Awards. A crossover album with elements of pop, folk and country, the original project was recorded and produced with one of Maine's premier electric guitar players, Robby Coffin.
In 2006, Don celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the release by adding two bonus tracks to the CD, adding personal comments to the liner notes about the inspiration for the songs, and updated the photography. Newly mastered,
the cover of the album features the same "flowerchild" model, Lily Hoffman Fuller. When she posed for the original release in 1996, she was 8 years old. Her mother, photographer Nina Fuller, reconstructed the original photo shoot, and the now 18-year old Lily beautifully adorns the cover again.
The most requested song on the CD at live shows is "Lovers Kind of Moon", a beautiful feel-good song about relationships that stand the test of time. Don wrote it after performing for a 50th wedding anniversary party.
If you like Dan Fogelberg, the Eagles, and/or Vince Gill, you will enjoy the smooth sounds of this record!
