The songs on this album are a collection of works that began in 2009. Several of the songs were written while on mission trips to Ukraine and Croatia. Two of the songs were written for a Christmas event that I was asked to host in 2009. A snow storm cancelled the show and these two songs have been waiting patiently for this opportunity to finally be heard. Both of these songs were primarily written while on a such a mission trip
The song "Under the Curse" is the most recent, written in September 2012. This is a song that revisits my personal journey from a challenging childhood to a blessed life in Christ.
"Tears of My Mother" is a collaborative work which was actually brought to me by Cliff Gribick. We worked together to bring the song to it's current state. Although, Cliff wrote the majority of this song, I felt a personal connection, as my mother was the primary Christian influence in my life. This song was nominated for the Nashville Connection Songwriter Competition in 2012.
I was also impressed with the song "Freedom Like a River" that was totally written by Cliff Gribick. I played around with it for a couple of months and decided that it would be the first song that I recorded in which I had no part in writing. I am thankful to Cliff for letting me record it and his encouragement for the ministry that I try to carry out.
"Come to the Banquet" and "Go Christian" are both songs that come from scripture. "Go Christian" came to me one light when Bob Davis (My mission trip partner) asked me if I could write a song that center around the first few verses of Hebrews chapter 12.
"Out on the Battleline" came to me as I worked with small churches that were facing overwhelming discouragement as they tried to reach out a world that resented the message they were trying to share.
I wrote "The Victors Crown" during a time when my faith was struggling to push through feelings of uncertainty. I realized that most of us go through those times and the key is to endure regardless of the dark environment. The victory is promised so don't give up.
In April of 2011, I was asked to present a song about the cross and the events that brought salvation to mankind. That afternoon, I was blessed with the song "Only One".
I hope that these songs bring you peace and encouragement. I am offering the entire album download through CD Baby at a very special price.
