Overshadowed

by Doug Wollman

An ancient gate appears, creaking itself slowly open. At first nothing else happens or even seems to matter in the frozen moment of silence. Nothing. Then the sound of an ordinary yet familiar piano emerges, to the stander-bye a welcome is heard.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Overshadowed features acoustic piano with something familiar about the music that you can't quite seem to put your finger on. Have you heard this music before? Many of the melodies and themes somehow take on a weathered down-to-earth approach, and yet take you away to somewhere else....all at the same time. The ordinary encounters a touch of spectacular, the spectacular encounters a touch of ordinary. As the two opposites tangle with each other, creative and created lights burst forth into action by way of musical expression, with the intent of being heard by the stander-bye. The observer doesn't know what to think, at least not at first, but is nevertheless captured by the freedom offered in this opportunity to embrace and be embraced. No, the expressions seen and heard from this place are not just an end result, but only the beginning.
